J K Polk

The J.K. Polk carries the deep colour of Obsidian, but with a soul of fire. Fused coal particles give the brick a lively, almost glowing texture that catches the light in unexpected ways. The result is a façade with a raw, primal force; a dark palette that is not static, but alive.

Production process: Eco-smoked. Firing and smoking combined in a single firing cycle in a low-oxygen atmosphere. Lower gas consumption.

Forming method: According to the waterstruck principle, in which the clay is pressed into a mould and released using water alone.

Clay composition: 100% refractory kaolinitic-illitic Westerwald clay of Mesozoic age, blended with iron-rich clay to give its characteristic depth of colour.
