A villa as a personal signature

The future residents were facing a special adventure: building their dream home on an open plot waiting to be filled. What began as a search for balance and identity grew into a story about vision, collaboration and making choices that truly make a difference. Together with architect Egide Meertens, they laid the foundations for a contemporary villa that looks clean-lined, yet radiates warmth and personality.

The search for the right facing brick

It soon became clear that the façade would be the defining factor. The couple did not want a standard solution, but an appearance of their own that would do justice to Egide's design. Finding the right brick, however, turned out to be a journey of doubt, comparison and reconsideration.

In the end, they did not choose a single brick, but a blend: 90% Franklin and 10% R Banks. This combination brought exactly what they were looking for. The Franklin provided the clean, contemporary base, while the R Banks, with its subtle shading, added just enough nuance to bring the façade to life. A personal mix, and with it a personal signature.

Made to measure, down to the smallest detail

But the real strength of this project lies in the details. Besides the standard bricks, Joseph Bricks also supplied a complete package of made-to-measure elements: slips, corner slips, soffit slips and even corner soffit slips. Thanks to these specials, the minimalist lines of the design could continue without interruption. The result? A monolithic façade without compromise. It is precisely this refinement that makes the difference between an ordinary façade and one that is right in every detail.

The architect's view

Architect Egide Meertens stresses how important the choice of material was:
"For this project we were looking for a light-coloured, nuanced facing brick in a slim format, to emphasise the horizontal character of the house even more. The bricks from Joseph Bricks offered exactly the expressive power and quality we were looking for. Thanks to the combination of Franklin and R Banks, with flush pointing and slips in overhangs and soffits, we were able to create a highly stylised whole. It is precisely these refined details that make the difference and take the project to a higher level."

Doubt gives way to pride

The search began with many questions and uncertainty, and ended in pride. The result is a home that reflects not only the architect's vision, but also the personal taste and wishes of its future residents. The blend of Franklin and R Banks gives the house character, while the Joseph Bricks specials ensure an exceptionally refined finish.

This villa shows what is possible when vision, craftsmanship and made-to-measure work come together: a home that feels like a personal signature.
